PDP Chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor quits as party leader as he faces fraud charges.
The national Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Vincent Ogbulafor has resigned as the party’s leader, a news site source in 234next has claimed.
Mr Ogbulafor is currently facing trial in an Abuja High Court for allegedly defrauding the federal government of over N100 million while serving as minister of special duties during the Obasanjo administraton.
The happy go lucky party topshot has ealier rebuffed all calls to relinquish his post following series of allegations now levelled in the court of law.
However, he has sealed a good chapter of history in Nigeria whereby erring public officers are now committed to relinquish their position in the event of serious allegations, especially if justice is being sought through the court of law.
His action has been commended as adhering to the rule of law of the country.
Mr Ogbulafor was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at an Abuja High Court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to a 16-count charge and was granted bail on liberal terms.
Opposition parties, such as the Action Congress had called on him to quit against the backdrop of his impending trial over alleged fraud charges.
He will be remembered as the chairman of People Democratic Party under whom some stake-holders resorted to a rule of gangsterism as they embarked on flagrant rape of the nation through taking laws into their hands as the nation’s President laid ill in international hospital.
The cabal gangsters had been described as having contributed to the serious nature of the presidents ill health with pressures mounted on him for their political gains before his death.
Party stalwarts desperate for loot windfalls embarked on lies and make-beliefs to carry on illegalities including forging of the President’s signature and planting themselves in Presidential palace of the nation’s seat of power, as the Presidency laid in Saudi hospital reeling in agony.
President Umaru Yar’Adua died recently and was buried in Katsina, his home state.

Dividing the country will never help to solve our problem…the problem is that we have too many bad eggs parading themselves as politicians in our country. My problem is not an igbo man, hausa man or fulani man, but problem are corrupt men and women in our government that are milking our treasury! Even if we divide the country, would that help to end corruption?
