All plans are on the advance stage as efforts are made by every parish to make the day specia for all children as customary with all Churches across the world every year.
Another year of thanks-offering and festivities has rolled in and Celestial Worldwide is set to trigger a new season of festivities with the celebration of the Children’s harvest this Sunday.
The celebration which comes up simultaneously in all churches before the real adult thanksgiving celebration is in accordance with the Second Schedule (section 99) of the Church’s constitution which stipulated in part: ”It is also laid down that each Parish of the Celestial Church of Christ shall annually observe the Harvest by holding Harvest Thanksgiving.
“Service followed by Harvest Sales. This will be celebrated in two parts – Juvenile and Adult. The Juvenile Harvest will be celebrated by all parishes on the first Sunday in June each year, while for the Adult Harvest; parishes shall inform and agree their respective dates with the Diocesan Headquarters in Lagos, always provided that no parish shall hold its Harvest
“Thanksgiving Service on the Ist Sunday in October, which is the date fixed for the Supreme Headquarters in Porto-Novo or Ist Sunday in August, which is the day set aside for the Diocesan Headquarters, Makoko in Lagos”
“Harvest period is a special season that holds the bond of celestial together as a one unit Church”, claimed a respondent recently who added: “ It’s a period of merry making for the children and a time for parents to reflect and show appreciation for God’s protection for the entire family from the previous years”.
During the periods, fruits, drinks and food of many assortments are made available in abundance so that all new comers, well wishers, visitors are treated to sumptuous mini party celebrations.
Many parishes have made the preceding week a dedicated week through prayers and fasting seeking for divine protection and victory through the celebration.
Last Bank Holiday, our correspondent was at the annual Children Harvest party hosted by C.C.C New Jerusalem parish in Ilderton Road, South –East London, where the children were treated to a lavish party hosted by the Church and the elders.
The week preceding the Juvenile Harvest is always the party time for the children who use the opportunity to get together and enjoy being in celebration mood in preparation for the Juvenile harvest. Rehearsals are made for songs, dramas, Bible citations and memory verses which all serve as side attraction during the festivity.
As source from Edward Street Parish also in South-East London said the children in preparation for the Juvenile harvest have held series of singing and drama rehearsals in readiness for the young harvest to make the celebration very memorable for all coming to witness.
At Hephzibar Parish in North London, and Rehoboth in far East-End in Romford, there have been spiritual dedications with the Church, placing the Children under God’ protection prior to the Harvest.
“It’s all about being in festival and all activities are undertaken as God directs, because what we follow is the voice of God”, an excited elder told EMNnews.com while responding to questions about the preparations.
The Adult Harvest kicks off just a week or two after the Juvenile Harvest.
