Deji of of Akure forged Olori Bolanle’s settlement letter and signature
The estranged wife of the embattled Deji of Akure, Olori Bolanle Adepoju, yesterday accused Oba Oluwadare Adepoju of allegedly forging a letter claiming that she has agreed that the matter should be settled out of court.
The fake letter, which was allegedly written by the queen to the state governor, was circulated at the newspaper junction, Adegbola, to hordes of reporters as early as 8.30 am.
The letter, entitled: ‘Re: Deji of Akure, HRM Oba Adepoju Adesina and his Olori Omobolanle Adesina’, was allegedly signed by the queen herself and addressed to the governor, dated June 8, 2010.
The statement quoted Olori Bolanle in this manner:
“I am most disturbed by the reality of a query from government which might lead to unintended consequences which will do no one any good. I plead for Your Excellency’s understanding, to handle this matter with your usual candour.
“I use this medium to express gratitude to all those who have stood by either side in this matrimonial conflict, particularly various civil groups and the virile Nigerian Press.
“In the meantime, the forces of cherished African norms which ensure that marriage is a contract involving the families and not only between the man and woman, are irresistibly already at play.”
However, the lawyer to the estranged monarch’s wife, Olatunbosun Aganun, said the purported letter did not emanate from Olori Bolanle.
Blatant lie
Mr. Aganun, who described the letter as a forged document, wondered why Olori Bolanle, who is still receiving treatment in the hospital, would write such letter without his consent.
“If Olori Bolanle wants to withdraw the case, the letter should be written by her lawyers. The statement is nothing but a blatant lie calculated at confusing the public. We have taken the matter to court and Olori Bolanle has not instructed me to withdraw the case at the High Court.
“Any letter that will come from Olori Bolanle must be channelled through me and must carry my company’s letter head paper. So, I want to advise journalists to shun the statement because it is malicious.”
