Football: ego bitten Nigeria shuns all international events participation for two years to reorganise.
Seriously hurt by the recent abysmal performance in the on-going World Cup competition in south Africa, Nigeria has decided to embark on a major overhaul of her Football activities internationally.
The World had tipped Nigeria as one of the major contenders to vie for the 2010 version of the World Cup which for the first time is taking place on the soil of Africa.
Touched by the Nation’s disgraceful performance, Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan has suspended the national soccer team from international competition for the next two years.
Conveying the nation’s no1 citizen disgust at the Eagles’ performsnce is his special adviser, Ima Niboro who spoke to Reuters.
“Mr President has directed that Nigeria will withdraw from all international football competition for the next two years to enable Nigeria to reorganise its football,” Niboro told reporters, continuing: “This directive became necessary following Nigeria’s poor performance in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.”
NigeriaSupeer Eagles were knocked out in the first round of the competition and alongside many Football major World Powers, who failed to make it to the rounds of sixteen and eight.
They include France, England, Germany ,Italy .
