Ijesas in London celebrate ‘Ijesa Day’ in grand style

The yearly Ijesa Day Celebration comes up on Saturday August 21, 2010 and come next Saturday, friends and associates of Ijesa indegenes across the world will converge to celebrate in grand style.
The occasion will witness the largest concentration of all Ijesa sons and daughters from across Europe and from other parts of the world.
Ijesa Day is a special day dedicated yearly for the concentration of all Ijesa sons and daughters, young and old to socialise under one umbrella of love and unity.
It is also an avenue for many top Ijesa indigenes in the Diaspora to familiarise themselves with others across the world and also to work out certain modalities for the improvement and alleviation of the life of Ijesa people back home. It will also serve as avenue to deliberate on solutions on how to improve the local communities for the purpose of emanciopation of the life of the people.
This year, the occasion will be chaired by His Royal Highness, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland and will witness the landmark fund raising in aid of Ijesa Youth Academy.
Many prominent Ijesa blooded dignitaries have signalled their intention to grace the ceremony.
Among important guests of honours for this year’s celebration are Oshun State 2011 governorship aspirants and other political activists, business gurus, industrialists and educationists.
The special guest of honour for the occasion is Erelu Olusola Obada, Deputy Governor of Oshun State.
The occasion will also serve as a networking forum for Ijesa indigenes and all friends and associates to exchange ideas and rub minds on how to lift communities communities and the nation at large forward.
This year’s event will take place at the popular Millwall Lion Centre, Zampa Road, off Ilderton Road, London SE16 3LN.
On the band stand will be the one and only Jelenke super songlord, Diya Ojo and his ever consistent band mates. There will be other side attractions including traditional dances, Ewi citations in Ijesa language and comedy and drama plays.
The occasion will start by 6pm and will wind up about midnight.
Already, many Ijesa Social and Charity Organisations are putting finishing touches to the grand plans to make the occasion memorable and very unique.
