FIFA and CAF storm Nigeria to ensure credible NFF official election

Officials of the World and Africa’s football organizing bodies,  FIFA and CAF are set to arrive Abuja this week ahead of the NFF’s (Nigeria football federation) new executive committee board elections on Saturday.

It was disclosed on Monday that the elections will go on as scheduled as litigations previously filed to stop them have been withdrawn.

The chairman of the Electoral Committee for the election, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, told reporters yesterday that his doubted committee has received a notification from the global and continental bodies of their plan to be observers at the polls.

“It will be a big honour to have FIFA and CAF monitor the elections. We believe that there will be a recognition of our effort to re-brand Nigerian football by organising a credible election in the NFF,” said Barrister Mustapha.

He added that the electoral committee has set in motion machinery to deliver a transparent election, which will be satisfactory to all contestants and Nigerians.

“I enjoin all the aggrieved to embrace the ‘principle of necessity’ for the election to hold as scheduled in the interest of progress,” he concluded.

The electoral committee last week screened 59 aspirants, among whom were nine aspirants for the presidency that will contest the elections into the Executive Committee of the NFF
