Governor Raji Fashola reaffirm his commitment to Lagos development, says probe me if you have corruption evidence
Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola has reiterated his commitment to the on-going development in Lagos State, implying that no amount of distraction would tilt his goal of making Lagos a mega city as currently being implemented.
He was a guest of the London School of Economics where he had been invited to participate in a Seminar titled:“Lagos: Confronting Change in a Global Megacity”.
Answering questions from reporters during a post seminar interactive session at the seminar, Governor Fashola spoke passionately about his commitment to Lagos state while denying the wrong notion that he was serving as an agent of enrichment to companies owned by the former former of the State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu through a company responsible for the tax collection in the state.
A question had been asked if he frequently feeds back the governor after collecting the taxes. He warned reporters against acting on fed rumours and hearsay.
Governor Fashola denied allegations that less attentions were being given to roads networks in the less privileged areas of the state adding that many of the roads in the less influential part of the state needed better planning as they cost more.
On people alluding to allegations of corruption against him,, the governor said that such allegation was only meant to distract him from his committed mission of serving Lagos State, adding that he had nothing to hide.
He challenged those with evidences of corruption against him to come out with them, confront and commit him to be answerable to those allegations.
“I have a job to do here and I offer no apology to anybody on how I do my jobs”, he said.
He advised that cautions should be exercised when allegations are made adding unverified allegations should be handled with caution.
He made an example of governors being accused of sharing State allocations saying money do not come to states through Checks or cash.
He had viewed many allegation being made against his government as mere attempts to distract his mission:
“I do my job with the belief that I will be called to account one day and I will account” he said.
