Cabinet reshuffle in Sierra Leone sees new faces as many old names are dropped

There has been a dramatic cabinet reshuffle last in Sierra Leone  with some prominent names either being dropped or demoted whilst a prominent former minister in the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) being included. JB Dauda is now the Foreign Minister whilst Zainab Bangura brought down as Minister of Health working alongside Dauda Daudis Koroma.

Alhaji Alpha Kanu was also demoted as Political and Public Affairs Minister and replaced by another Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray. Serry Kamal was sacked and replaced by Frank Kargbo while Kemoh Sesay who was relieved as Transport Minister last year, is now Special Advicer to the President.

With the exception of those retained in office as Ministers and Deputy Ministers, all new appointments are subject to approval by Parliament. In order to ensure continuity of Government, outgoing Ministers and Deputy Ministers are advised to remain in post where necessary until the new appointees have been confirmed by parliament and have taken the oath of office.
