Lagos ACN may boil as Fashola’s factors are being eroded by ex-governor Tinubu
Action Congress in Lagos State is walking a thin rope as major political crisis based on personal interest could be tearing apart plans for a landslide result in the next governorship election coming in April.
It has been claimed that former Governor Bola Tinubu has embarked on a major scheming exercise aimed at undermining Governor Raji Fashola’s political stake in Lagos State politics.
Many notable Action Congress Nigeria loyalists to Governor Fashola are allegedly being schemed out of position in order to put in place Tinubu oriented political pyramid.
Many current political post holders loyal to Fashola have been edged out and replaced with new candidates to represent their communities in the forthcoming political dispensation.
Unless major intervention exercises are put in place, the current political scenario may pitch ACN stakeholders on the brink of a major intra party imbroglio- and this may put CAN in serious credibility puzzle. There is the danger of possible political unrest as next election draws near.
According to The Will investigation, political activists, who have had the misfortune of rejection by their constituency under CAN’s umbrella in the forthcoming election are accusing former Lagos Governor, Asiwaju Bolaji Ahmed Tinubu of politically scheming aimed at putting in place a political structure loyal to him at the expense of Governor Fashola.
BRF faithful members enmasse have been cunningly replaced with loyal (Tinubu) political faithful, a situation sources said has cause disenchantment and frustrations in Fashola’s
“Major supporters of Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) have lost their bid to contest for different political offices on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), a situation which has fuelled anger and protests from the affected aspirants”, claimed a report in The Will.
Among those affected include Senator Olorunnibe Mamora (Lagos East), Senator Muniru Muse (Lagos Central), Hon. Dayo Bush-Alebiosu (Kosofe Federal Constituency), Hon. Moruf Akinderu Fatai (Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency) and Hon. Babatunde Ogala (Ikeja State Constituency), amongst others.
It wqs further claimed that already former governor Tinubu had already endorsed his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu to replace Senator Muse as a senatorial candidate for ACN in Lagos Central Senatorial District and Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Lands, Mr. Gbenga Ashafa to replace Senator Mamora as the would –be Senator for Lagos East. They all owe their allegiance to Tinubu.
Reports also claimed that both House of Representatives Chairman on Diaspora Committee, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and Commissioner for Woman Affairs and Poverty Alleviations are being considered for the Deputy Governorship in the next election.
“The candidacy of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji was rejected by members of his constituency in Epe, but Tinubu has imposed him on the Ikeja State Constituency, a decision which edged out Hon. Babatunde Ogala, who is Fashola’s key supporter in the Assembly” it was further gathered.
Two other Fashola faithful, Akinderu-Fatai (Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency) and Bush-Alebiosu (Kosofe Federal Constituency) have also been pressured to step down over alleged anti-party activities that the party has not been able to prove.
According to sources, the decision to block pro Fashola political ideologists has caused anger and protests in the Acme Road party secretariat, increasingly fuelling intra-party crisis and innuendoes.
Last weekend, supporters of Deputy Governor Adebisi Sarah Sosan complained over moves to dislodge her and put a replacement.
As this report is put together, it is claimed a major protest is being organised for Tuesday afternoon at the party’s secretariat by different groups of aggrieved by the current political scheming which has disorganised many aspirants. Many claimed they have been unfairly schemed out of the race for one political office or other.
It is being rumoured that the situation may force many of the aggrieved candidates change their hearts towards CAN, a likelihood a source said was impossible.
“ Take it or leave it, CAN is a matured party and all crisi will be resolved without rancour or acrimony. We are all loyal ambassadors to the party and to out country and not serving for selfish interests”, a pparty top stalwart told EMNnews from Lagos.
