Northern Nigeria is bigger than Leaders Forum’s voice, says Ribadu
Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Action Congress of Nigeria presidential candidate’s has accused Northern Political Leaders Forum of insincerity about its representation of Northern Nigeria interests.
According to the former EFCC boss, the current NPLF representation is a false make up in pursuit of personal political gains. It said rather than claiming to be representing the interest of Northerners, it should come out clean to say the forum is more in personal pursuits.
The ACN presidential candidate Campaign Organization accused the Northern Leaders Forum (NPLF), led by Malam Adamu Ciroma, of hypocrisy over the issue of a northern consensus candidate representation.
It is the belief of the Campaign Organisation that if the NPLF genuinely were pursuing a true Northern interest it should be more vocal and supportive of the other more acceptable ACN candidate, Nuhu Ribadu and Congress for Progressive Change flag bearer, General Muhammadu Buhari who both have represented the interest of the nation and both , having come from bigger north land scape.
If the intrentions of the Forum were genuine and sincere, the organization is of the opinion that these two candidates should be touching their interest and the the two should not have been brushed, by the Forum leaders aside as Northern interest cuts across party interests.
Although the organization said it recognizes that the Northern elders were actually looking for a northern candidate under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), it said they had all along created the impression that they were looking for someone who would represent the interest of the entire north and not that of a section of it.
With that in mind, the organization wondered why the NPLF would not back another northerner other than
Atiku Abubakar if its objective was truly to protect the interest of the north.
The ACN candidate suggested that it seems more likely that the northern elders were actually looking for someone who would protect their private interests rather than that of the north.
It said that the ACN flag bearer, as an anti-corruption crusader, happens to be a credible candidate who has served the nation meritoriously for 25 years. It further pointed out that he proved his mettle as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) when he was entrusted with the responsibility of dealing with such crimes in the country.
