Abia Dirty 5: Hope lost for raped victims as Police release arrested suspects

A bad man posture: One of the alleged rapists traced to his Facebook before deleting his profiles.

There seems to be no hope for the victim of the recent violent rape in Abia State, Nigeria as three suspects who were arrested over the landmark human degradation have been released by Nigeria Police.

Three of the suspects were arrested over the weekend while they were interviewed  by the police.

But report are coming that the three have been released because the victim of the rape, who is still undergoing counselling and rehabilitation is yet to show up to identify her attackers.

Unless a high powered women league take the initiative to press for actions, there seem to be no hope.

More, the suspects have been rumoured to be  members of a powerful cult which benefit many big men in the state and these a source said may contribute to the speedy release of the suspects.

” It is a complicated process and unless the victim show up to identify the assailants, the law may not permit for any action against the suspects and many top level contact may discourage the 4 year old woman from coming forward to identify her attackers”, claimed a legal expert in London.

The marathon rape  which allegedly involved five students of the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), South East Nigeria, was a big dent on Nigeria’s image as the video of the lady being violently sexually run over by five men was played across the world. The video action attracted almost all big newspapers across the world with many of them writing off Nigeria on the issue of justice about the degrading action depicting women as easy overrun.

Many of the international media had portrayed Nigeria as a lawless nation which may never take any credible action due to the nations jungle rule of law system.

That stigma is sticking already as various excuses are now being given for the release of the suspects.

Speaking with The Moment on Sunday evening, the Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Bala Hassan, confirmed that the  arrested suspects were released almost immediately after questioning.

Hassan said that those arrested were released when they convinced the police that they were not the people mentioned online and knew nothing about the gang rape.

He said the police was handicapped in investigating the incident because the victim was yet to report the incident to the police.

‘If we had seen her, we would question her, play the video footage and see if she can identify the suspects,’ the police commissioner said.

‘For now, it is pretty difficult for us to fish out the culprits because it is only the girl that can be of immense help. We are still urging the public to furnish us with genuine information on this case so that the police can make a breakthrough,’ Hassan added.

The alleged rape incident video was uploaded on the internet and has become an online hit.

The Abia Dirty5 are being sought after by the entire world due to the level of human degradation meted to the woman repeatedly overrun and degraded as the gang took turn on her and coercing her into display several sides of sex actions. As she groaned and screaming of pains, she was being ordered to cooperate so she would be released in peace after the gangs ‘adventure.

“It you coperate, you will go but if you don’t cooperate, you will not go”,they threatened the lady apprently saying she could be killed unless she agreed to the various sex action requests.

Thousands across the world shed tears as they watched the video relay live and uncensored for identification reasons.

At a stage, the voice of the lady was slurring due to stress, tiredness and overstretched body abuse and run over. She persistently begged to be killed by the gang.

Only reports over the weekend that a Woman right group had traced her and putting her on rehabilitation gave the world the hope that she is still living.

Even then, no evidence yet as she is yet to be physically identified.
