Houston agog as Ijesa people host World Conference in Texas, United States
‘Let’s Go Houston’, The much publicised International Conference of Ijesa Peoples In Diaspora( I-PIDO) takes off this Friday in Houston Texas, United States.
Many sons and daughters of Ijesa in South Western Nigeria have been converging for almost a week in readiness for the world conference, which will witness the largest assemblage of Ijesa sons and daughters across the world.
The God father of Nigeria Comedy, Apostle Moses Adejumo Olaiya is to be honoured during the International Conference which will run for three days in the heart of Texas from October 28 to October 30 this year.
The three-day Conference, among others is designed for the unification of all Ijesa sons and daughters across the world, celebrating their achievement and drawing a road map for laying a better legacy for the future generations of Ijesa sons and daughters. Top government functionaries will also glitter the conference. It is the most influential conference in history and is expected to draw many friends and business and social associates of Ijesa sons and daughters.
The Convention starts on Friday October 28th and will round up on Sunday October 30th, 2011 with a farewell adress by the President of the world famed Organisation.
This year’s conference will hold at the popular Ramada South-West Hotel in Houston,Texas.
The conference marks the first International Convention of all Ijesa sons and daughters across the world and is being organized by the Ijesa People In Diaspora Organisation Incorporation, which has its headquarters in Chicago, United States of America.
Many accomplished citizens of Ijesa land since last week have arrived the city for the conference.
Among this year’s conference speakers are Professor Dayo Akinmokadun of City University of New York, who will deliver the key Conference Paper titled ‘Ijesa: Our People, Our Future’, Engineer Dideolu Falobi, Managing Director Krestal Laurel (Nig.) Limited, Lagos who will deliver a paper on ‘The Future prospects of Industrialization of Ijesaland.
Among other special guests are traditional rulers, Embassy officials from across the world, State High Commissioners, educationists, entertainers, politicians, and many prominent Ijesa sons and daughters.
Notable citizens who have brought glory, honour and pride to Ijesa land, among them ace comedian and jokes genius, Apostle Moses Olaiya Adejumo (aka Baba Sala) have been earmarked for lifetime honour and recognition. He had only bee recently celebrated by the nations top theatre Organisation.
Others recipients will include Prof. Isaac Adewole, a Professor of Medicine, Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan and Chief Adedara Arunralojaoba, a prolific Ijesa musician and traditionalist.
Among the hosts of this year’s conference are His Royal Highness Oba Kayode Awogboro, (Alademure of Ibokun), who is the Chairman of the occasion.
His Royal Majesty Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, His Royal Highness Oba Dokun Thompson and His Royal Highness Oba Adebayo Ogunmokun, Akeji of Ikeji-Ile are the royal fathers of the day.
The conference will witness various business networking traditional and cultural performances and other social attractions including musical shows, Fashion Extravaganza and music performances. A special dinner however will round up the social festival.
